I remember of one experience where my school was celebrating racial harmony day. It was held on the twenty-first of July years back. The school had organised for many performances to be held in the school hall to celebrate racial harmony day. I felt that the performances organised for the school was very meaningful and I thought that it taught us many things about racial harmony through the very long talks during the performances. The performaces were also very interesting and it interrupted our curriculum time and thus, we had a shorter lesson time in school that day. Due to the short performanes organised, we were dismissed almost an hour earlier than usual.
The performances taught us many things even though it was quite boring and i felt quite bored just doing nothing and only sitting in the hall which almost made me fall asleep there. However, i am very happy at the fact that we were dismissed an hour earlier due to the celebrations of Racial Harmony Day. Also, many boards containing information about Racial Harmony Day and its real purpose. However, i believed that any in the school would just glance at it upon walking by and not scrutinize it and take the learning points seriously, I was no exception at that time. However, as i grew up, i realised the importance of racial harmony in Singapore.
