I was a student at CHIJ Katong primary for only 1 ½ years. The year I started Primary 1, 1990 was the year my school shifted to its new premises. The building was not ready at the beginning of the school year, so for the first few weeks I attended classes at CHIJ Katong secondary school. The old building was not big enough to accommodate all of us. Thus began my primary school education.
I still remember the games we played during recess and on the school bus, and some of the more crazy things we collected. I collected stickers, stamps and even pencil shavings. Even at that age it became a competition to see who could collect the biggest stash.
I left in Primary 2 during the mid-year exams, so it didn’t matter what my results were.
