During my younger days I was privileged to be able to go on overseas trips on regular occasions. My first memory of flying around the age of four is also my flying experience with SIA. My family joined a tour group to Indonesia and we covered quite a number of places as I remember staying in a number of different hotels. I don’t remember much about the flight itself, except that I hurried to finish up the last of my meal (I was always a slow eater, even then). Strangely enough, I enjoyed flying when I was young. This was even when my family regularly flew to Los Angeles (18-hour flights). I guess the limited leg room and small seats did not bother me back then. I also enjoyed airplane food and collecting the complementary ‘free gifts’ such as postcards, playing cards, backgammon travel sets etc. I remember writing postcards but never managing to finish them by the end of the flight, so I was unable to send them off.
