Do you remember the games we played back in primary school?
I think most of us do, they symbolise the epitome of childhood to many of us, the carefree nature of playing and running and screaming, the innocence of competing.
I remembered playing five stones with my friends. The best player was actually a boy, the head prefect. He was also amazing on the skipping rope, often winning gold in rope skipping competitions. Besides five stones, there was zero point. We used to make the rope during class breaks and then we'll play it during recess time, before assembly and after school while waiting for the bus. I remembered my hands would smell of rubber bands, very yucky.
I remembered the eraser wars. We would queue up at the bookstore to buy erasers with flags of different countries. Some would buy the flags to complete their collection, some to replace the ones they lost, others just because the flags are of their favourite colour. We played the erasers by "frogging" over one another. The eraser that was able to completely cover the top of the other eraser wins. It was a simple game, but it could keep us occupied for several hours.
There are so many other games we played when we were in primary school, and they are memories held dearly in my heart. Do you have any of your own?
