My Singapore Hero is ‘’Lee Kuan Yew李光耀’’, because he is the best and he help Singapore to improve our country. He was born in Singapore on 16 September 1923, in a large two-storey bungalow at 92 Kampongs Java Road. He grew up with his three brothers, one sister and seven cousins in the same house. He was the top in Mathematics. Lee Kuan Yew started his career as a lawyer in the 1950s.
The Japanese people came to our country without our notice, they had fought with our people and their planes dropped their bombs, killing 60 people and wounding 130. Lee Kuan Yew had volunteered for the Medical Auxiliary services (MAS) since 1935 on that day, there were not provided with uniforms, but there were each given a tin helmet and an armband with a red cross on it and paid a small allowance of about $60 a month. The war did not go well. When the Japanese had left, the houses will all in a mess. Day to day, lift had to go on under the Japanese occupation. At first everybody felt lost. Lee Kuan Yew father had no work, Lee Kuan Yew had no college, his three brothers and sister had no school. Danger is all around them, but it was safe to stay at home. The Japan fed them with rice gruel mixed with discarded vegetables from old kerosene tin. It reminded me of the way I fed my ducks. A kempeitai man used a cane to hit the man’s back. It was so painful. The Japanese prime minister had gone an unqualified apology. Lee Kuan Yew was a student of Raffles Institution. He went to Cambridge University after the war. He got a double first in law and returned to Singapore to become a lawyer. Finally, lee Kuan Yew had married to Kwa Geok Choo, their wedding is at Raffles Hotel 30 September 1950.
1958-1959, Lee kuan Yew had see Devan Nair, Lim Chin Siong, Fong Swee Suan, Woodhull and Puthucheary in their new dentention camp, located outside Changi Prison. Lee Kuan Yew brings them a large pot of delicious chicken curry that had prepared to there. During these meeting, lee Kuan Yew hinted that he had grave doubts about setting out to win the next election, because a PAP government would soon be in trouble with the MCP. In 1954, he formed the people’s action Party to fright for Independence. The Party won the first general election in 1959 and he becomes the Prime Minister at the age of 36. He was so happy that he become the Prime Minister and he promise that he will improve our country. He was in charge of Singapore for 31 years until he stepped down in 1990.
Five years later in 1982, Lee Kuan Yew thinks himself as legitimate as he was the leader of Malaya because he speaks Malaya quite well. Lee Kuan Yew had made Malaysia to be a part of Singapore. Goh Chok Tong took over as Prime Minister, and he himself become Senior Minister. Lee Kuan Yew is a good leader.
His elder son Lee Hsien Loong has been Prime Minister of Singapore since 2004.
He is admired and respected by the leaders of many countries. He is one of the brightest, ablest men I have ever met. Lee Kuan Yew is a statesman who created a successful nation. He was known by everyone.
