I was living in a pre-war house at River Valley Road during the 50s to the 70s. There were four families living there.At the back of the house was a well.The water in the well was very cooling and clear.For hygiene purpose, we were told by my mum not to drink the well water.However we used the water to bathe and washed clothes.
There was also a backyard where we parted some fruit trees such as guava and papaya.I have had many fond memories of childhood days.There are 11 members in my family.The girls attended Raffles Girls' Primary School and the boys were in Anglo Chinese School.Our leisure time were spent in the National Library,National Theatre and the Great World Amusement Park.
I cannot forget my happy and simple childhood life without luxuries like branded goods and big feast.
