My secondary school Singapore Chinese Girls’ School celebrated her 100th year anniversary in 1999, the year I was in Secondary 4. The celebrations culminated in the publication of a coffee-table book about the school’s history and a time capsule buried at the main reception area of the school. Special commemorative pins were produced, which we could wear in place of the school badge on our uniform, as well as commemorative shirts. You can see why I chose this picture, we are wearing the different school uniforms; the PE uniform, the usual uniform and my friend wearing one of the commemorative shirts. The metal structure behind is the time capsule, so that we won’t forget where its buried. I spent four years there, and I still keep in contact with the friends I made there.
