Specially tailored by a famous Peranakan lady, this Kebaya has exquisite embroidery with intricate detailing. For years, her wonderful dressmaking talents drew many to her shop at Arab Street for her specialized Kebaya embroidery. A Peranakan's Kebayas are decorated with diamond kerongsans and they are usually worn by the rich. Others are silver or gold kerongsans. Kerongsans are buttons on the kebayas. They also wear gold or silver belts around their waists. This sarong kebaya is also accompanied by shoes or sandals embroidered with potong beads. Potong beads are the best quality and most costly beads. This is why sandals are very expensive. The Nonyas show off their jewelleries like diamond rings, earrings, diamond bracelets and chains with diamond lockets.
