In the 1970s, we lived in a one-room rented govt flat in Redhill, I used to spend times with my childhood friends. In those days, we invented our childhood games like: Hide & seek; A.E.I.O.U; One-leg jump; Zero-point; Kite-flying & fighting; Marble balls etc -- all these spent only least or no cost at all! I still remember those kampong spirits when my neighbour sharing cooked foods with us, we live as close as like one family -- a big big one! Still remembering vividly the old uncle used to open his door and scolding us when we made too much noises in the void deck, just outside his unit. We might not be able to buy expensive toys or games, but we did have crazy times during our childhood days, those naive days without too much stress from the study. If I could turn back the clock and I will to try it again. A "Char Seow Pao" is nothing to me now, but it just as expensive as shark fins in my tiny eyes. A small bowl of noodle costed about $0.10, but not eveytime I had the fortune to enjoy it. Poor; simple; naive; laughters.....those were the days!
