I have kept a few old jewellery cases, handed down to me by my late mother. Usually pink and red, in plastic, some with see-through plastic covers, and in different round/oval shapes. I believe the metal one by Weng Cheong Gold Smiths (sic) is older than the plastic ones. Mother also gave me many, many receipts for jewellery bought for us her children, and herself, but mostly for occasions such as relatives' weddings, babies' full moon celebrations, and even for my father's relatives from China who visited us occasionally. I marvel at Mother's proficient social PR skills.
