This is a Carlsberg Beer ceramic ashtray, with soft organic lines and a lovely muted green colour. My late father was a coffeeshop proprietor and ashtrays like this and from many other cigarette/ beer sponsors adorn the marble top coffeeshop tables during the 50s, 60s and 70s in Papa's coffeeshop at Kampong Kapor. It is so different nowadays where ashtrays are made from dented condense milk tins. In Papa's days, beautiful, some even gold-rimmed, porcelain ashtrays were sponsored with an added motive to advertise too.
