Do you have a hero who has always been there for you and cares for you? I do and she is no other than my mother. She is the cause of most of my achievements and awards which I have worked hard to earn and has been a role model to me ever since I was young.
When I was in kindergarten, I loved to draw pictures and amuse myself with my stuffed toys. I would often play with my family members after school too. Then, she introduced me to a new form of entertainment - reading. She taught me how to read and pronounce each word correctly and made reading enjoyable. Occasionally, she, together with my father, would read me fascinating stories before I go to bed. These stories were mostly fictional and would transport me to another world of excitement. Now, reading books can expand my knowledge in English and helps me do better do better in my examination.
Although my mother is currently a Primary One teacher, she still teaches me and helps me with my school work. She would also give me assignment to do every weekend and would make sure that I complete my task on time. My mother asks me to revise regularly so that I am ready for any tests. Although I usually complain about the work she gives me, I think she is just concerned about my education and my future. I hope to do well for my PSLE next year so that I make her proud and show her that all the effort she has put in for me has not been wasted.
As a mother, she knows what I am capable of and her expectations are quite high. She wants me to obtain any of the top three positions and would try her best to help me. She would usually purchase me gifts such as storybooks, notebooks and stationary every time I do well in my examination. These gifts motivate me to do better and strive for my goals. My mother always wishes me luck on the night before the examination day and tells me to try my best. She has told me many times before that if I work hard enough, I can achieve my dream of becoming either a teacher or a doctor.
I feel that my mother is a good person at home, as a parent, and a good teacher at school, as a teacher. I have seen her before in her class, teaching her students and explaining to them the instructions of the work given. I notice that her students are attentive and disciplined even though they are still in Primary One. She inspires me to become a teacher, on that is able to communicate well with her students and pass down useful knowledge to the children of tomorrow.
My siblings and I deeply respect our mother as she is a strict and caring parent. She knows our interests and often lets us have fun. At the same time, she makes sure that we get enough revision and rest. I really look up to my mother who has changed my life significantly, making me a more useful and hardworking person who can achieve anything with a positive attitude.
