My hero is my dear Mum, who has never ceased to take care of me. Her name is Susie Wee and she is forty-eight. She teaches me many things and always helps me, whether I am in trouble or not. She has two main outstanding points about her character and that will be always etched in my mind.

First of all, she is a very tidy person. The way she does things is very neat. In fact, our visitors will say, “Wow, your house is so neat and tidy!” It is true! The only problem is, when she clears my stuff for me, I cannot find them. Nonetheless, I thank her for teaching me to be neat.

Secondly, my Mum has a really sensible mind. For example, at a young age, she knew she was adopted by my grandparents but she has never blamed them for not being her real parents (you can check out the book “Girl, Missing” by Sophie McKenzie for a story about a girl who was adopted and went through dangers while trying to find who her real parents were). She knows that my grandparents have raised her up well and she is very grateful to them.

Although my Mum usually saves me not by the physical form, I still consider it as “saving me”. If she is not there to teach me and help me, I do not know what will become of me when I grow up. Since young, she has thought me things like never to fight. I appreciate it. Because of that, I have never fought before. She also helps me to develop good habits. For example, being neat, like I mentioned earlier. She helps me with school work as much as she can. As she knows her Chinese is not very good, she spends the money to send me for Chinese tuition. The tuition has helped me a lot. My tuition fees are not cheap, but my Mum is still willing to pay for them as she knows what is the best for me. I am very touched by this and although I usually take the tuition for granted, but I always remember the gesture of unconditional love she has for me and that my Chinese would not have been very good if I did not have the tuition.

Fortunately for me, my Mum works at home, so she can help me revise my work, check my work and spend time with me. My parents sometimes remind me how fortunate I am. Most parents work in offices and do not really get to spend time with their children. My Mum spends time with me in many different ways. For example, sending me to school, watching television with me and having meals together.

There are also many other ways she has saved me as well, like punishing me when I did something wrong. I might not appreciate it now, but I will when I grow up.

When I grow up, I will repay her for raising me up well. I will take care of her and will not abandon her in the old folk’s home. Many people have abandoned their parents in the old folk’s home as they think it is “too difficult” to take care of them. What they forget is that how much work it was for their parents to raise them up…

So Mum, thank you very much for everything and raising me up well!!
