My Hero

My grandmother is my hero. She has blue wrinkly eyes, permed curly short grey hair. She is about 1.7m tall. She speaks loudly as she can hear properly due to old age. She is 74 years old. She does a lot of housework all day long as my parents are working. I am leave to my grandmother to take care me as my parents are working everyday from 8am to 6pm. My grandmother always cook for our meals. Since I am being taken care of by my grandmother, I always follow her to the market and help her carry the groceries.

When I was young, I often vomit in the car because I have car sickness. So my grandmother will always sit beside me and prepare a plastic bag for me, in case I vomit. One time, I vomited on to her because they could not reach for the plastic bag on time. That is why when I was young, I never like to go out on car rides. Only when I got older, I didn’t vomit that much on the car anymore. And now I don’t even vomit on the car anymore. But last time, I was around 6 years old. I still vomit sometimes, but still I will always follow my grandmother to overseas. I am a very problematic girl. I always bring lots of things when I grow up, just in case. All thanks to my grandmother, she thought me all these. So whenever my brother or sister needs a tissue paper or a drink of water they will always find me.

I am terrified of cats and dogs. Because my cousin got scratch by a cat before and my brother’s friend got bit by a dog, and I am afraid that it might happen to me. So whenever I see them, I would run to my grandmother, because she is always there to protect me.

I also cry a lot during the first few days of school. When I was primary one, my grandmother would beat me with an umbrella for crying. After a few beatings, I would stop crying. But after a while, I will still continue to cry. Entering primary one is like entering a whole new world to me. That’s why I always cry because I’m afraid.

My grandmother is a very good at cooking, sewing and planting plants. My grandmother is amazing, whenever we go out for dinner and try a very delicious dish, she would know how to cook it. That’s what amaze me.

She also has a green thumb. Thought she takes seeds from parks sometimes, she always will try to make her plants grow as healthy as it can be. Growing plants isn’t as easy as it seems. Some plants need to be in the sunlight and you cannot water too much to the plants if not the roots will rot. I don’t know how my grandmother does it but she always know which plant needs what.

Though I wish I could learn to plant like her, I am scared of worms and insects. I would also like to learn how to cook like her but she always never let me to help her cook because she is afraid I might cause more problem. But still sometime I would secretly help her stir the soup.

I choose my grandmother as my hero because she is always there for me no matter rain or shine. Or even she is mad, she will always be my hero. A hero who takes good care of me and to protect me.
