My Hero
Heroes are often defined as men who are admired for their brave deeds and noble qualities. But my definition of hero is one who motivates and inspires others to make them change for the better.
My hero is an ordinary, run-of-the-mill secondary school student. He is hardworking, humble and realistic. He never set targets that he knew are unattainable for him, and never boasts about his results no matter how great they were. For many, he was a role model to follow suit. However, he had never influence me at all, until a time when he changed my life drastically.
When I was in primary six then, all my classmates would be chattering in fluent English while I was busy chattering away in improper English and sometimes, I would even use rough languages unnecessarily. Yet, I did not mind about my own inappropriate tongue.
As the school bell rang for dismissal, everyone would rush out of the school with books in arm and bags that seem so heavy they might pull the user backwards. They were all heading back home and were probably jaded by their usual routine. But, dismissal was a totally different story for me and I was never bore by what usually happen after dismissal as it was a time for me to play all I want with my friends.
Time seem to fly when each day was spent effortlessly by playing, and soon, the preliminaries were around the corner. People around me began to bury their heads in pile of books and would often burn the midnight oil. It was indeed a busy and hectic period. You may have thought the situation might have influence me to flip open my books to revise, but I never did.
Then, my hero came into the picture.
My hero told me about how education is so important in life that without it, my life would not be as fruitful as it should be. He also mentioned about how my every single action I had done may already have an impact on my future, and most importantly, he told me the reason behind his consistence good results and that is, our parents.
That very moment had since become the turn in my life. My hero had inspired me to achieve good results to make my parents proud of me and had motivated me to want to become a person of good qualities with an outstanding character.
My hero is also the person that always cheers me up when I’m feeling down with words that he had learnt. He never despise me no matter what others comment about me and would tell me how bad those people are with profound descriptions he had just picked from books. Part of my expanding knowledge of English is therefore the result of his encouragements for him.
However, my hero had never knew that the words he said and the things he had done possess such great influence and motivation for me. Through this essay, I want to let him know that he is the person behind all the achievements I had obtained, and this hero of mine is none other than my brother.
