Everyone has a hero in their life .In my life, my hero is my school principal, Mr. Kelvin Tay. He is someone who I look up to as he inspired me, fuelled my hopes and dreams, and influenced my life in meaningful ways. He is someone who I look up to as he is kind, responsible and caring.
Everyday, he never fails to give us a smile whenever he sees us in the school although he had just join Keming this year. The smile in his face will never get erased in my heart as it let me feel warmth and happy to feel that someone in this school cares about us and often when he is like the policeman patrolling the canteen, will offer us vegetables and meats from different stalls in the canteen if he think that we are not having a healthy diet.
There are many things he did for us in order for us to reach for the stars in our forth coming PSLE like singing us inspiriting songs like ‘reach for the stars’ and ‘I believe I can fly’. If only all principal in Singapore was like him, I wonder how many top scholars there would be. He would also share things with us about stories to our core values. Although I am in the third class this year, there are a few naughty ones in the class and he never fails to counsel them and to let them feel that there is someone caring for them. He would forked out his own money to buy guides books about PSLE just for them.
Furthermore, he even bought a new set of uniform for one of the them. In my own opinion, if every principal are so caring to pupils in their school, education would be fun and we are well guided by him through the uncertainties during this period of growing up. On the eve of the PSLE oral he climbs up to different Primary 6 classes just to wish us good luck. This is what he said to us: never get too nervous tomorrow and eat breakfast or your stomach will talk to the examiner. Lastly, remember this word that start with an ‘e’ and that word is enjoy. At that point of time, I really felt like crying as I was touched by the words he said.
As time flies, the day for the PSLE oral came and I was nervous as thirty marks will be in my ‘bank for PSLE’ and this is the section I could do well in as I know how to talk a lot. We will told to assemble in the hall according to the team number and he came to tell us about the words he said the day before although I can see that many people did not bother to listen to his speech. As the days passed, our race in PSLE is coming and we will be facing a lot of stress but I still know that he will set supplementary classes for the weaker students to excel in the PSLE.
Lastly, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Tay for giving me fufilling graduation year in Keming Primary.
