You will meet many people in life but there would be one that you will respect most and you think that he/she is your hero.To me,my hero is a caring and hardworking person. What makes me say that? Read on. When my hero was at the young age of around twenty plus, her husband lost his job as the company he was working in, shut down. My hero, herself, had to support the family and also take care of her four children. Since her husband has not found a job yet, she earned some money by helping her neighbours to wash their laundry, sew their torn clothing and babysit their children.
Two years later, her husband found a job which was to serve Singapore as a military soldier so as to lessen the work of his wife and hence my hero has more time to rest, take care and be together with her children.
Around twenty years later, my hero’s husband retired from military which was around ten to fifteen years before I was born. So, my hero had to look for a job. She found a job working as a chef in Marina hotel in Marina. Not long after, she started a business in Ayer Rajar canteen with her husband selling Chinese food but that did not help her at all as she still had to cook for her family by four in the morning before setting out for the business, so that her children could have their breakfast made out of love and hard work from their caring mother.
Ten years later, I was born and that was when they stopped their business so as to stay home to take care of me. I was like a “nuisance” to them as I cried almost all the time because I was unwell. My hero and her husband took turns to look after me at night. As a result, they did not have enough rest. Their health suffered.
At the age of sixty-five, my hero’s husband caught a chronic illness; lung cancer. Upon hearing the bad news, my hero’s daughter quitted her job so as to spend more time taking care of her father. Then at the age if sixty-seven, a few days after Chinese New Year, my hero became moody. That was the most sorrowful day for us. I did not attend school the following week as the whole family attended her husband’s funeral. My hero was down casted that day. The undertaker prepared the burial of my hero’s husband’s dead body and made other funeral arrangements such as preparing a coffin for him.
Ever since then, my hero had been having pain in her legs so when she has to climb up staircases. Every time I see her in pain, my tears would roll down uncontrollably. Even though she is in such agony, she still takes care of me. Hence I promise that I would take care of her with all my might and hope that her health will improve.
Guess who is my hero? You should know it by now. She is my caring grandmother. J
