My Hero, My Mother
Everyone has a hero, including myself. My hero, or should I say heroine, is a very normal person. She does not have any superpowers or the ability to fly. However, she plays a very important role in my life. She is my mother.
She has taught me many things, not just knowledge but life skills. I have to possess such skills to survive in the long run of life. There are also times when she inspires me.
To tell the truth, my mother is my first heroine when my life just began. Everyone knows that looking after a baby is very tiring, not to mention three. After me, it was my younger brother and then sister. As both of them only had two years of difference in age, they were always sticking to my mother. The problem is that they both wanted my mother to themselves.
When they cry together, it would be thunderous. It is terrible. If I am my mother, I will be very annoyed and may even go crazy.
My mother, still though holds her temper very well, not letting it go easily. I am very amazed and impressed by her behaviour and want to change myself for the better.
Since young, my mother has been teaching me not to tell lies. When I was in Primary One, I had secretly bought some toys for myself using my pocket money by saving up during recess for two weeks.
However, after noticing me playing with some new objects and losing weights, she started feeling suspicious. As I could not hold my lies for a long time, I told my mother everything I did. At that very moment, I was really afraid that a volcano would erupt. To my surprise, she broke into a smile and said, “It’s okay if you want to buy any toys you like, we will fulfil your needs but on one condition- do not let yourself suffer by wasting your pocket money on unnecessary things.” I then saw my mother’s selfless love for me.
Actually, I did not realise how much effort my mother put in raising me until I came across a friend in my school. She is a very independent girl as her mother in China. She is all alone with her aunt in Singapore. Amazingly, she never fails to get into the best class in Primary Four, Five and Six. I had my mother to help me when I needed her anytime. She even took a day’s leave from her work just to revise with me for my Semestral Assessment One.
My friend, on the other hand, has no one to ask for help, so she does everything on her own. It was only then when I realised how important my mother was to me, almost becoming my oxygen.
Most importantly, I have decided to put in all my efforts into my studies and do my best at the PSLE (Primary School Leaving Examination), to do her proud.
My mother is like a small but shiny diamond that was put on this dull silver to make me shine brighter among the rest. She is also a signboard that directs me to the good paths in life and prevents me from straying away from the right paths in life.
