MY HERO
The topic of this composition is “My Hero”. There have been different heroes in my life and I have chosen this hero to write about and that is my father. He has been with me since I was born and I have learnt since little from him. My father has taught me many things including life skills like swimming. When I was young, my father would wake me up and fetch me to kindergarten. Sometimes, he would talk to me about the good qualities of life. He told me about the various mistakes that he made when he was younger. Then, he would also tell me how to be a better person. On one occasion, he told me that he regretted smoking and although he is trying his best to quit smoking, he has found difficulties in doing it. He also told me about what he had done during his time in primary and secondary school. He said that he was usually misbehaving in secondary school. Once, when I scored badly for my examinations, my father encouraged me to do better. When my siblings and I quarreled or fought with each other, he would punish us and tell us what the right thing to do is. When I felt unhappy, he would usually tell me a few jokes to cheer me up. Although he has bad habits, he is trying hard to change. Whenever I did something that reminded him of his childhood, he would scold me if it was something bad. My father is not a genius but when I have homework and I do not know how to do it, he tries to help me with it. My father usually makes us all laugh at his silly jokes. He sometimes teaches me about ways to control my anger and ways to relive stress. When I was bored, he would play with me when he was not busy with his work. He said that he was very playful in school and did not pay any attention to the teacher when he or she was teaching. He told me that his teacher said that whoever gets lower than him would surely fail but whoever scored higher than him may not pass. After hearing that, my father asked his two elder brothers to teach him how to do the sums. When the results were released, my father got the highest in the school for his level. His teacher was stunned.
My father was expelled from school finally at secondary four for his constant misbehavior. But now, he is doing his best to change and that has inspired me. My father has helped me in my studies and taught me the basics of swimming. He also taught me how to play one of my favorite sports, soccer. To me, my father is a very humorous man and is willing to change for the better. He is very determined and is also willing to learn. That is why among all of the heroes in my life, I choose my father as he deserves to be a hero.
