My Hero
My hero is my brother as he helps me in many different ways. One night, I was waiting for my friend to play in the playground near my house at night. Luckily, my brother had accompanied me to the playground. So I did not feel very lonely even though it was dark. I was waiting for him when some teenagers who looked like gangsters also arrived at the playground.
When I saw the gangsters, I was a little afraid as they walked towards us. I looked at the gangsters and they asked me what I was looking at in a very fierce manner. They spewed lots of vulgarities and even attempted to hit me. My brother shielded me from them and we ran home as fast as our legs could bring us.
When I reached home, I called my friend and asked him why he did not show up. He said that he had something on so he could not go to the playground. I reprimanded him as he did not even tell me that he was not going to the playground. If he had told me that he was not going to the playground, I would not go there either. From that day onwards, I was afraid of meeting my friends at night.
When I was Primary Two, I had a high fever of 39 degrees. I felt very sick and my brother was very worried about me. He immediately told my mother about it and my parents brought me to a clinic near our house. I had a medical certificate for two days. I felt very cold and my mother wiped me with a cold towel which helped my fever go down a little. I was afraid of taking the Medicine as they were very bitter and I would easily vomit when I eat the medicine. During those few days of suffering, my brother showed concern towards me, he asked me if I was feeling well, if I needed a drink, whether I was hungry, which warmed my heart. After a few days of suffering, I finally got well and went back to school. Those few days made me realize how much my brother doted on me.
When I was in Primary Five, I was really bad in my angles. I totally did not understand what they really meant and how to find the angles at different corners. I was so sad that I really cried as I could not do almost all the worksheets that had sums about angles. Luckily, my brother is very good in Mathematics and taught me how to do those sums involving angles. I did not understand at first but he coached me patiently and I finally understood. I am now very good in angles.
Now, In Primary Six, I will be having my Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) soon. To prepare me for my PSLE, my brother teaches me about the questions that he thinks is challenging which had faced four years ago, when he had his PSLE. He taught me about tricks to do MCQ questions of science and how to ‘eliminate’ the choices one by one. Such tips are very valuable as it can help us very much and help us score higher marks.
