My hero……By Low Zhi Xuan (contact no.:63885745)

"My hero”, to some people, someone who saved them; to kids, someone who swoops down out of the blue and carries victims away from danger; but to me, my hero is like an angel guiding me in a maze of obstacles. Well then, who is it? Not Sherlock Holmes, not superman, but it is without a doubt, my beloved mum.

As she brings me up, she never fails to leave a trail of righteous, and wisdom for me to follow. Although strands of shiny white hair have plagued her head, she is still contented and optimistic towards life. Her trademark also says "Try your best in whatever you do, big or small, important or not", she keeps me highly motivated and cheerful, even when I fail my exams; because I know that I have tried my best and no matter what, try try again. Especially during this stressful period when I feel low, she shows concern by helping me in revising, and buying vitamins supplements to help me do my best.

My mum also hang a bright smile on her face, whether rain or shine, that reminds me that joy isn't hard to find, because it is right beside me, so I must treasure it! However, she does get mood swings and scolds people for an unknown reason, but that's at my perspective. For my mum, she uses her mouth to scold, but her heart to feel the pain. What’s more, her motherly instincts have touched my life, and I am going to tell you how.

As the proverb goes, “actions speak louder than words”, she make sacrifices for me with her heart, not her mouth. I am grateful that she does not take me as a burden, but someone she should care for. I am as short as a bush, have sensitive skin, and have ugly teeth structure. Since young, I always blame her for passing bad traits to me. However, my views change completely when she started bringing me to see doctors and brew chinese herbs for me. Although they tastes bitter, I can feel the sweet thought within. As for my skin, my mum has gone through the hassle of buying good and effective cream for me to apply. Besides that, my mum is willing to burn a hole in her pocket to let me consult and receive treatment from specialised dentists. To rich families, the sum of money is peanuts. But to an average family, it is a burden, especially during this period of inflation.

Besides showing her bold love through actions, your thoughts in sacrifices she does for me truly touched me. There is a saying: "Love are more than actions, it is indescribable". When it is chilly, she always reminds me to put on a jacket. However, I feel the warmth not because of the jacket, but because it is from the motherly love I experienced. When it is raining cats and dogs, she comes in time, holding an umbrella in her hand to pick me from school. On the brighter side apart from the ominous clouds, the umbrella always seems to be covering me from the rain but not her. She is drenched, yet she is worrying that I will catch a cold, and that shows how she puts me in the first place of her heart. Although these are insignificant actions to anybody else, but to me, these actions are important fragments that make up my interesting and precious lifetime. And the true hero who created it, will always be my mum.
