My Hero
A hero to me is someone whom I respect and deserves respect from others. This hero whom I respect dearly is my mother. She was born in Singapore, 1965 and the eldest daughter of the seven siblings. My mother started working even before she was 16. She was born in times when Singapore was not very prosperous. She did not study well during her primary and secondary times as she needs to take care of her younger siblings therefore she had only education up to secondary three.
When she went out to work, she started off as a Tangs promoter. Slowly, she was promoted to be the supervisor. However, she was pregnant with my sister and decided to give up her career to take care of us. At that time, she was already a mother of three children, my brother Edwin, me and my sister Sophia.
To us, she was a benevolent mother. She sacrificed her career and spends her time to take care of her children. I remember her telling us about how she brought my brother to school. As me and my sister were still young, she had to bring us along. She had to carry me with a hand and pushing the baby pram with the other. I could picture her feeding and bathing us.
She displays good qualities of a mother. She let us lead a carefree life. She knows that we do not like tuitions so she never forced us to take up any. She does not have high expectations for us when it comes to studies but is actively involved in our life. She stayed home and cooked for us every day. Although many might think that mother cooking is a very normal thing but to me, it is very significant. I have personally tried cooking myself and I think it really needs the patience and perseverance to let the food taste nice.
Now, all of us are teenagers so she went back to work to help my father with the family income. Even though she and my father are both busy with work, she makes an attempt to take dinner with us every day. She would also help with the house work when she knows that we are very tired with school work.
I also remember recently when I fall sick, she was very caring and took care of me. She takes time off from work and accompanies me to see the doctor. I remember her walking and out of my room holding the towel in her hand. She does not complain about it. She is a significant person in my life and a hero. I have learnt valuable lessons from her. She is my hero and forever will be.
