The meaning of hero from the dictionary meant a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. My definition of hero would be someone who have inspired my life and make positive impact on me.

My hero would be my mother. She has a very unique character that makes her very special. Her attitude is always positive and never fails to impact others with her words. To me, she’s not only my mother, but she’s also like a sister, like a best friend. She was always there for me and I know that she’ll be there to catch me when I fall.

My parents separated when I was Primary Five. Since then, I was under the custody of my mother. She does not draw a very high salary, but she has been trying her best to fulfill my needs. I remember the time when I wanted to buy the IPod Nano. She said that we could not afford it. I was disappointed and every time we go out to shop and we see the IPod Nano, I would point it out to tell her as I was hoping that there will be a small chance that she will buy it for me. One fine day, she decided to buy me the IPod Nano, seeing how much I wanted it. I was over the moon when we got to Bishan Junction 8 where there was an Apple store. I treasure my IPod Nano very much as my mother bought it for me to make me happy.

Many a times we would quarrel. I was the stubborn one. Every time she starts to nag or scold, I would often put on my headphones so that I would not hear anything. Sometimes, she really gets on my nerves that I scold her in my head. I would always regret it after I have calmed down. She was often the one to make things up with me. She was often the one to strike a conversation after we quarrel. Yet, I have never said sorry despite it being my fault. I felt really fortunate to have a mother like her.

Like a mother, like a friend. I could tell her anything, from problems in school to friendship problems to relationship problems. She is very understanding and knows what is up in my life without me telling her sometimes. She gives great advice even though some are not what I wanted to hear. I even wonder sometimes if she is able to read minds as she is very accurate in knowing what I am thinking. But, I know that it is because I am her daughter.

I love my mother very much even though I have never actually told her that face to face. She is a role model to me, like an angel sent from heaven. I hope to be as great as her when I grow up. She is worthy to be my hero and she does not even have super powers. (:
