MY HERO
Hi everyone! I’m Yuen Wei Han and my class is 5 Compassionate of White Sands Primary School. Everyone has a hero and so do I. What is a hero? A hero is a person who is inspiring, fuelling our hopes and dreams and influencing our lives in meaningful ways. Who is my hero?
He is none other than Graham Phillips, aka ‘Benjamin Tennyson’. Who is he? He is a ten-year old actor who played a role as ‘Ben’ in a movie ‘Ben 10: Race Against Time’. You may say that he is young, but then he is a boy whom I look up to.
The movie is actually about him, his cousin Gwen, known as Haley Ramm, and their grandfather, Max, known as Lee Majors. Ben is a mischievous and childish boy. However, when he finds a device known as the Omnitrix, he becomes a much more responsible and sensible boy. He also becomes very serious about work and thinks twice before acting. But he is above a little superpowered mischief every now and then.
When asked to adjust back to normal life, Ben had lots of difficulties as he was not supposed to leak out the secret of the Omnitrix. Just as he was about to settle down, an alien known as Eon disrupted his life. Together with Gwen and Grandpa Max, they set out to find out the truth of the chaos. Using his Omnitrix, Ben was able to defeat the alien Eon time and again. However, the alien was persistent and wanted Ben to help him activate the Hands of Armageddon, in order to allow his alien species to invade Earth once and for all.
His plan was succeeded when he finally managed to change Ben into a younger version of Eon and Ben was entirely under the control of evil. Alien drones started entering into the human world through the time rift.
When all hope seemed to be lost, Gwen reached into the Ben inside the Eon clone and Ben managed to deactivate the Hands of Armageddon, creating a vortex which sucked all of the alien drones into the time rift. With the help of some Plumbers, an intergalactic police force, Ben, Gwen and Max joined together as one and drove Eon into the time rift, gone and defeated forever in the depths.
Ben and Gwen managed to reach their school on time for the talent show. Using Ben’s timely de-transformation, the magic trick Gwen performed was successful. In the end, they came in second. Just then, Ben truly understood the meaning of being a hero and winning was not always the point.
The reason why I look up to Graham Phillips, now 15 years old, is because I want to be like him, a responsible and sensible boy, knowing when to act. I wish to help save lots of people in the future and be a superhero just like him. He has indeed made my life much more meaningful. Graham Phillips is my hero.
