Story

Part I

In October 2004, my mother, aunt and uncle invested their hard-earned savings to open an Econ Minimart franchise shop. Most of the people were in amazement with the fact that, my mother and aunt are 2 women getting on with age, yet were brave enough to open and operate a shop business. Starting out from scratch without any knowledge and experience of doing a business, has proved to us that this path we are in and the decision we have made is not a sustainable one in the long term. However it is, we have endured these two years, mainly owing to our mother and aunt’s time and effort in running the business. My heart ached when I saw the worn-out look on their faces.

Our shop business ended on 31 January 2007 due to news of a Restructuring Program of the area by the Government. In general, it had been a journey well taken for us, though we did not benefit from any compensation due to certain criteria that we did not meet. Nevertheless, we were proud of our mother and aunt for answering the Government's call to cultivate the entrepreneur spirits in us.

Part II

My mother is a great woman in my heart. She can relax and enjoy herself but instead, she constantly think of us in first priority; saving for our future and preparing home-cooked meals for us, doing all she can for the family!

She came out to society to work when she was in her early teens, all for the sake of making ends meet in life, due to coming from an uneducated generation, and that she herself has not experienced much love from my grandmother, sadly.

My mother sets the living example of “A mother’s unconditional love for her children always!”

I LUV U MUM =)

A gift my mum will desire is simply CASH

My brother is getting married this year and the Dinner Ceremony will be held in December. Secretly, how I wish I can give her this wonderful surprise, if I am lucky to be selected and give my mum the greatest gift of all – my love of course and also, the gift money for her to buy something she really like and can treasure for life.
