When I was young, policeman and fireman are my heros. My dad is just my dad, who somehow will provide for the family even when the economy is not doing well.

The year when my dad reached the age of 50, something happened that made me look at him in a different light. I received a call from my mother to go to the hospital one night. When I reached, I saw my family crying outside ICU. The doctor told me that my dad is in coma due to a heart attack and I was supposed to sign a form to allow them to inject some medicine as the last resort to save my dad.

I was devastated for the first time in my life, I felt that I am losing my dad. We all waited outside the ward for him to wake up. I was hugging my mother as tears welled up in my eyes. Before the sun was up, the doctor told us my dad has woke up. I could feel that he did not want to leave us. Today he is nearing 60, sometimes, I need to remind myself of the incident to make sure I don't take him for granted. He stayed alive to provide for the family, he did not bear to leave us behind.

After the incident, he was relating to us what went on when he was in coma. He said that he could see dark figures trying to pull him away. i presume the dark figures are the death angels. We then told him that the nurses and doctor were trying to hold him down as he was violent at the hospital. We had a good laugh over that. We could, as he is safe and sound already.

Today, this old horse has left his past glories in the battlefield. Nowadays, he will spend times playing with my niece and nephew. He is as healthy as before and he has totally quitted smoking which i have not achieved.

Hero fights off devils, my dad fought off the demons that try to take him away from us and that is paramount.

Policeman and fireman saved the day, my dad saved himself for us so that we can be together as a family today.

He is my hero in life, a wonderful husband and a caring father.
