“With great power comes great responsibility.” This is a phrase adopted by my hero Mr. Wong from Spiderman movie. He is the person whom I will never ever forget in my life. His advice, his image will always be etched in my mind.
Mr. Wong takes up the responsibility of governing the whole Chinese Orchestra, making sure everything is in place, ensuring “law and order” to maintain the standard of Chinese Orchestra’s Gold-with-Honors. He sacrificed a lot of time and effort, trying to make everyone feel as a family for our vision is “Every member matters” and therefore every member matters to him.
Mr. Wong is well-known for his admirable virtues.
Firstly, his compassion. He has a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. There was once when I was in a bad shape due to some domestic problems but he is always able to make me feel better in one way or another. There would never be a moment of misery when he is around. He’s a fatherly figure to me all this while.
Secondly, his courage is something that I would like to acquire. A strong state of mind is required to enable one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution. He is able have a clear distinction between CCA and domestic affairs and will not let either factor cross the line.There was a time some domestic problems caught him in the middle but he still stand firm and carried on. If I were him, I would not be able to over the emotion that has gotten over me which is a great obstacle in my life.
Thirdly, his selflessness and sacrifices he made resulted in him to be a well-respected teacher. There was never a time he rejected me when I approach him for help. He is concern with other’s advantages without caring for himself. Moreover, no matter how busy he is, or how difficult a task may seem, there will be a possibility to resolve the problem. Probably because of his strong determination which make wonders. This explains why it does feel safe whenever he is around, nothing seems impossible for him
Like any other ordinary teacher, Mr. Wong is no exception but he will carry himself appropriately in front of students to set good examples to students. He dresses smartly with eyes nicely framed up in black boxes. As usual, he travels to school by ordinary Mass Rapid Transit or SBS bus.
However, his devotion and passion to Chinese Orchestra makes him extraordinary. He always have that burst of energy to carry out his duty of ensuring that Chinese Orchestra is functioning orderly. That energy of his never seems to wear off nor diminish even a little. At the end of each session, he is still able to laugh joyously and his face his still brimming with delight.
Throughout fours years in secondary school, Mr wong have inspired me to be an excellent leader within my CCA. As the executive committee and sectional leader, I have to juggle both sides and including my academics equally well. So far I think I have done a good job but all credit goes to Mr. Wong for his advice, opinion and his character which impacted a lot on my lives these 2 years. I am what I am today because of the presence of Mr. Wong in my life. Without him, I would still be a lost boy in secondary school. He is my hero who had enlightened me to be an excellent leader.
