My grandmother, my hero

My grandmother is my hero. She was the one to make me believe that the amount of effort we put in is equivalent to the amount of reward we will receive. She has taught me to put in my best in whatever I do.  My grandmother had this favourite line, “Do not worry when thing turn out to be a failure, as I know you had given your best shot for now!”

The evidence of how old my grandmother was was shown on her face. She had uncountable crooked lines on her fair face and a clown-liked hairdo that was grey in colour. Grandmother did not dress fancy. She went everywhere in her special shimmering silk blouse and Bermudas. She always ensure that her outfit was perfectly matched and her clown-liked hair would not bounce like a ball. My grandmother looked like a sergeant in the big family; indeed, she was the head honcho of our family. She was a stern and fierce woman. Yet, she had shown altruistic love and concern to our big family.

My grandmother lived a hard life since young, she was not born with a sliver spoon. Hence it was not surprisingly that she had to give up her studies and to work for her family. She had to work at a young age while other children were enjoying their euphoric childhoods. Despite of her life being not smooth and easy, my grandmother had no complaints at all. This was the reason why I felt that she was a kindhearted and thoughtful woman. Being forced to give up her studies, my grandmother had a hard time finding job due too her low qualifications. However, she did not give up easily. Nevertheless, after much effort and time she put in, grandmother managed to find a job that pleased her.

My grandfather had died at his early age and I did not even have the chance to know him. As a mother of my father, aunties and uncles, my grandmother had been working hard to support her big family. She held the responsibility of sending all her children to school for study all by herself as she did not wish her children to step on to her old path where her education level was very low. This was the main reason why grandmother was strict in bringing up her children and grandchildren. After her retirement, my grandmother volunteered to take care of her children’s children. It was not easy for an old lady to take care of a bunch of playful and mischievous monkeys.

My grandmother had never failed to be with me when I am feeling low. I had faced a number of failures when I was a Pre school child. Being a art-inclined child, I love to participate in all sorts of art competition. There was one a national day art competition which I had put in a lot of effort preparing for it. I thought I could win a place in that competition; however the result was a disappointment. I had been feeling low for many days till my grandmother said her favourite line to me. She had pull me out of my disappointment.

Being a strong and independent woman, my grandmother had spent most of her life contributing to our family. Having many members in the family, she had never shown inequity and biasness to anyone. Grandmother had loved us wholeheartedly, showered concern to us faithfully. She had taught me that the result of something may not be the most important one; it is the process that matters. My mighty grandmother is hero.
