My hero is just an ordinary lady who leads a simple life. She is the person that has changed my life to be full of vitality and hope. That lady whom I regard as my hero is my dearest mother.

My mother’s dress code is always simple and neat. Dressed in her white tee-shirt and Bermuda pants, she will walk to the market everyday without fail every morning after preparing our breakfast. Her long curly brown hair hides her wrinkles on her face when she smile as age is catching up for her. Despite looking frail and sickly, her eyes will stare back at me sternly which really frightens me a lot when I did something wrong.

She did not have a happy childhood as my grandmother forbade her to go to school after she completed her primary school years. Although she did not study that much, my mother will inculcate moral values and hopes to see me shine in the future. One of the most vivid memories was an incident that happened six years ago that serves a great impact on me.

Six years ago, my mother met with a car accident in order to save my life. At that moment when she pushed me to the side, my mind just went blank. I thought she was going to leave us. Immense fear embraced me. I spent the night praying beside her bed hoping that miracles would happen right in front of me. The next day, my mother finally woke up. I was so ecstatic that I hugged her tightly, wishing that time could just stop. The power of mother’s love served a great impact on my life. I tell myself that I will take good care of her and not to let her suffer again. She is my only mother and I could not afford to lose her. My mother was indeed a true hero to me.

When I did not do well for my examination, I was devastated and cooped my self in the room the whole day. Instead of reprimanding me like most mothers do, she encouraged me and told me not to give up so easily. Her piece of words of advice may sound simple and dull to the people outside but it helps me to boost my confidence to do well the next round.

I have always been an introvert since young and I totally dislike learning new things. My mother has always been strict with me as I am the eldest among my siblings. Therefore I have the responsibility to take the lead. When I was in primary five, I was being forced to learn something that I have never touched in my whole life and that is piano. Being a musical dummy, I had great difficulty learning at first. I had always wanted to give up but the words “Do not give up!” kept swirling in my head endlessly. Now, playing the piano becomes part of my life and also serves a great impact to my career next time as a piano teacher. Without my mother, I think I will never ever have the chance to enter the world of music. She has made me feel that everything in this world is important. Her determination for me to strive has inspired me to become a great motivation for other people. My mother has stood by me all the time when I am faced with difficulties and I am thankful that she has been by my side supporting me. She will be the hero in my heart forever.
