She Loves me, she dotes on me, she’s my life companion. In other words, she is my mother.

Yes, my personal hero is my mother. Why? I’ll explain.

She’s the only one I’ve known all my life, that’s excluding my elder brother and my father. She always finds a way to satisfy my hunger of new toys etcetera, even things I don’t really need, but just want to own. She, along with my dad, landed me in a suitable accommodation She defends me in my time of despair. For example, six years ago, when my phobia of dogs started.

In 2002, I was in primary one. I was waiting for the school bus with my mother. My mother had planned to go out to eat at that particular day. As if appearing out of nowhere. A group of maybe three or four dogs confronted us. Terrified, I burst into tears uncontrollably. My mother, sensing my despair, tried to chase the dogs away with her handbag she was carrying. She tried to battle for me. This is true, it really did happen six years ago, she fought as I stood there helplessly, tears trickling down my cheek.

She had done many other things that can be considered heroic. A parent is a gift, I used to tell myself, and I still believe in that phrase, up till now. I am currently studying in primary six. And my mother is still my hero. She still stands up for me whenever I may need her. Despite the fact that she was not very good at modern studies. She tries to help whenever I need assistance in a certain question. She has been by my side all my life. And I am dependant on her. She is the person I can talk to, share my personal problems with. And even play with, I really appreciate having such a person in my life, she’s the one who knows me best. It just takes me looking down while eating just to let my mother know I have some problems. And she always tries to help me.

As I have stated above, parents are true heroes. Think about the happy times you had with them, the sad times you had, and them encouraging you. Think about all that, and you should be extremely grateful for this person that you know so very well. Think about the times they defended you when you are humiliated. Trying to get you out of a tight spot. They might have reprimanded you, but there must be something wrong you did?

And that is why parents should never, never be taken for granted, not even as long as you live. Even if they pass on, you will have memories planted in your heart. Your parents are great people, they are really your heroes, some of you might not think that way. But it’s true. Think about the times they helped you. Those are examples of heroic acts. My mother is my idol, and forever will be.
