Our Flag Flies High

As part of National Heritage Board's commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Singapore's Self-Governance, NHB has specially commissioned ACT 3 Theatrics, Singapore's first children theatre group, to develop a 30-minute school assembly programme for primary schools entitled, "Our Flag Flies High". Through this show our young children will learn and appreciate the significance and meanings of our national symbols, particularly, our national flag and national pledge, in a fun and non-threatening environment.

The story of our national symbols is told through the lives and relationships of families and children that lived during Singapore's post-war to nation-building years. Children will learn about the struggles, obstacles and challenges that Singapore faced in her early years as a self-governing state.

This fun and engaging show is available free for NHB School Members (primary schools and equivalent)*. The show was launched on 3rd December 2009, in conjunction with the official launch of the Project 3/12 - A Nation Remembers travelling exhibition and the National Symbols kit (2009). Bookings are open now until June 2010 on a first-come-first-served basis. Accompanying each show is a specially-designed Teachers' Resource Package which consists of pre- and post-show activities to facilitate students' learning.
